Over the years I've had a great fascination with Australia. I have an extremely good friend that moved there a few years ago, and the temptation to visit has always been there. I also own a Minelab Explorer SE Metal Detector that is based out of Australia, and I've read countless stories about the gold fields of the land down under.

What Australia has to offer for metal detecting (and I didn't even bring up surf/beach hunting) is something to really consider for a possible vacation destination. One area that I've been curious about and know very little is the Northern Territory - Australia. I would say this is not the most popular destination since a large portion of it is away from the coast and Sydney, but the there is something magical about the area.. and the people. This is home to Ayers Rock, which would be something I would definitely like to see in my lifetime.
